Unanswered: Door handle question
I want to get my door handles rechromed. I have a spare set of door handles that I want to send for rechroming so I don't have to go without door handles on my car while they are being rechromed. The problem I have is my spare set don't have keys. My question is do the door handles come apart so I can put the key cylinder from my door handles from my car into my spare set? And if they come apart how do you take them apart. As always thanks for all the help. Tom |

door handles
Yes, they do come apart, so the cylinders are interchangable, Once you have them in front of you, I believe if memory serves me, there is a snap ring inside that comes out

Door handles should cost about $100 plus/minus to have chromed, you will probably have to mess with them when they come back to get the locks to fit. The build-up in the lock hole will close it up enough to cause a problem. A little TLC will cure the problem and you will have a great looking car. The handles are a key piece to a good looking restoration.
