The more difficult part for me was replacing the rubber without damaging the chrome strip. The old rubber in mine was so dried out you could not pull on it, it just cracked apart. I finally used a razor knife along the crimped edge and cut right through the rubber down to the metal so that I only had a very thin strip of old rubber left down in the groove. Then I used an awl and picked out the remaining rubber a little at a time, it was a real PITA. Then putting the new rubber in wasn't any easier, opening up the crimp without damaging the chrome is very difficult. I finally figured out that using a dull screwdriver I could force the new rubber into the chrome without having to open it up much. The first one I did is terrible, I will replace it if I can find another one. The second one is almost perfect. Somehow it always seems that way, one to learn on and one to get right. The more you do, the more you know.
