Doors slam like a tank!!

Eh fellow opelers. Just curious . My 71 opel gt ,Well when I shut the door it sounds like I'm shutting a door on a tank..Everything works fine & bumpers seem to be in order & everything allighns ok But it sounds horriblr . Is this normal . Noticed this in Washington too at a getogether. Any suggestions or maybe thats just the way it is . Thanks eh!!

??? you mean it sounds hollow and resonates? If yes, add sound deading material to inside of the door outer sheet metal panel. I have a 71 GT and it never shut with a thud like some modern cars. It is just a very light weight door assembly.
