Unanswered: Paint Color: "Fireglow Orange"

Searched a little, couldn't find anything on anyone doing this. I love the color orange on cars. Especially the pearl orange they use on the Lamborghini's. Just wondering if anyone has added a pearl or a metallic to the original orange color? Or know of any GT's painted in a pearl orange?

Actually within the paint compsition for fireglow orange there is some metalic in it. I really think that color could become much more lively with some pearl mica in it, though I already think it is a great color.

I am really thinking about doing this when I paint my GT. Probably a pearl over a metallic, because I love how the color tone shifts with light.

paint

I have a 1972 which still has the original fire glow orange paint on the car.If I were going to paint the car a custom orange I would Use House of Colour product which has a large selection of candies , pearls ,metallics and combinations thereof and urethane topcoats.I am certain they will have the combination and look you want. john

Sorry for the spelling! House of kolor.... House of Kolor Home Page . Adding a metallic to a color will generally lighten the color and reduce depth and lower vibrance .I haven't painted a pearl in recent years but your idea has potential. There are too many combinations to explain them all but the Lamborghini color is fantastic and is likely composed of a metallic gold or yellow base with a candy orange pearl translucent second stage with a clear third stage and may even be composed of four stages. House of Kolor has something similar which information you could find at a professional paint supply store. Good Luck!

Are you sure? I have a 72 fireglow GT and don't see any metallic in it. I may keep it close to that color or add some pearl to it, but I am thinking that a copper GT with matte black stripes (like the new Dodge Daytona) would look really nice too.

I am thinking of something maybe like this. Not a Lamborghini, but a McLaren F1.

I don't see any metallic in mine either but I will be getting the paint computer matched as necessary to repair minor chips to the original paint and when it is mixed up I will check the formula for metallic and post the result. It is a good idea to pick a color from a car and get the code as color chips can fool you.I painted a car orange once and when the sun hit it we had to wear sunglasses to look at it! Ha Ha ! We had to repaint the car!
