Unanswered: Tunnel sound proofing question

When I stipped the bottom of my GT I also removed the cream colored insulation on the tunnel; it was rusting underneath it. I am planning on using a sound deadening mat on the inside side side of the tunnel. Other than painting the tunnel with Zero Rust (the side towards the ground) and maybe undercoating, should I be putting anything on to replace the cream colored insulation?

Thanks for your thoughts, Bill

Bill;
We have had a couple of members who have done the total resto route and have used that "rhino liner" or "Line-X" to coat the whole bottom side of the car.

Rhino Liner you can have done in colors besides black, Line-X comes in black and the kits such as Duraliner also comes in black. Doing the underside of the floor in black makes working underneath somewhat of a pain because of limited light. Unless you have a well lighted shop or garage with a lift where you can get under the car and see what you are working on I think I would opt for some other color than black. The spray on liner does however do a good job of sound deadening and rust protection on the bottom side, I also used it on the floor inside and put silver reflective heat mat over top of that before backing and carpet. My car is quiet at road speed even with a low restriction exhaust system and a header.

I,m at the point of removing all that coating too. And was wondering the same thing, I just hope what ever I decide to do works half as good as that factory stuff, unless there is rust underneath man that stuff is not meant to be removed Does anyone know if you can get the same factory undercoating
