Unanswered: Trunk lock slotted nut removal

The lock in the Kadett trunk is secured by a "slotted nut" as the FSM calls it. Where the heck does a guy find a socket to remove/install the slotted nut? I did an E Bay search and Google search for GM specialty tools and found nothing close. I was able to get the old one off with needle nose vice grips but would like to make sure that when the new one goes on after painting that it is installed tightly. (the slotted nut is what tightens inside the deck lid to hold the outside chrome key slot surround snug agaist the deck lid). It's all kind of up inside an access hole so the tool needed must be kind of like a deep socket with the nubs on it to fit into the slots.
Is there a term or name for the socket or tool that I am unaware of that would help me do a search for it? Thanks, Gordy

I use a screwdriver to drive it loose or tight. But of course driving too hard can damage it.

Tom is right on this one, but, a generous shot of PB Blaster would help to loosen it up. The hatch handles on Sportwagons are held in this way, but, the blaster, patience, and light taps on a small, flat bladed screw driver will pay off.

Make your own. I don't have any pics, but I made one from a piece of scrap tubing 20+ years ago for this very purpose.

I walked all through the hardware store with that locking nut looking for different items that could be used to improvise the tool needed to do the job of getting that trunk lock in and out. Finally settled on a very heavy duty 1" steel hole saw ($10.00). Ground the teeth off of it and ground it down but left the 2 nubs on it to fit the locking nut. It worked out well. If anyone needs to borrow it or wants to see a pic so you can rig one up just let me know. I think it was a 7/16 inch socket that fit onto the shaft of it to loosen or tighten the nut.
