Unanswered: Seat Belt locations

I'm getting ready to re-install the OEM belts in a '69 GT. I'm having trouble locating the shoulder belt bolt holes. They don't seem to be in the B pillar like they are in the '70 model that I was going by. Are they located in the upper portion of the rear side panel? I'm trying to get out of pulling part of the glued headliner or removing the side panel unless I have to. Any help appreciated.

TIA,

Harold

Perfect guys! I thought it was in that panel but I didn't remember it being that far back.

Thanks,
Harold

I'm with Wrench on this one - my '69 does not have a shoulder belt either.

Ganging up on me, huh? It's not my car but I sure thought it was a '69. It has the early style instrument cluster with IIRC the "H" head. Guess I'll have to check the VIN. I was able to feel the holes through the rear side panel once I knew where to look.

My '69 does not have the shoulder belt - but does appear to have a hole for it below the quarter window (which I just discovered after pushing around on the sheet metal).

According to OMC, the '69 has the "Shoulder belt mounted just below side quarter window". What Year Is It?

I don't know if mine never had one - or if the PO omitted it?

The PO probably used a rear side panel from a later model that had the shoulder belt hole located in the B pillar beside the window not under it. So you could have a factory panel with no provision for the shoulder belt.

GT Seat Belts

Alright I hope one last question on the belts.

I thought I put all the belts I removed from this '69 GT in the same place. Well I came up with an odd number and on top of that I have two retractable short belts with male buckles. The only retractable OE belts that I can remember are the late model ones with the fasten seat belt light on the dash and the pressure switch under the seats.

Are these short retractable belts supposed to go in the '69 model and do I install them at the door or the transmission tunnel? How can something so simple get to be so complicated?

TIA,
Harold

Of all of the belts I've removed from GT's, I only remember the two different styles, two pairs with separate buckles and the late model style with the retractor mounted beside the cargo area and a slotted bracket in the rocker panel beside the seat for the seat belt to pass through and the shoulder belt locks into the seat belt before fastening.

So where did my short retractable belts come from? They seem to match the other belts as far as manufacturer, style and age. I did notice that the belts that I have, have matching numbers for each pair either 3910 or 3960. The retractable belt number is 3917.
