Unanswered: Dr-Manta Order

Use the poll to indicate the items you'd like to include in the order from Dr-Manta in Germany. Please note that by responding to the poll you are committing to purchase the items you've indicated. We won't know the final costs for shipping until the order is ready to go.

We're going to handle payment through Dieter (heimue), who has graciously offered to assist us.

Shipments will be through Gene Smith (BQS4).

My plan is to leave the poll up for a week to give everyone time to respond.

If anyone wants to order multiples of an item, please indicate the item and quantity here as a reply in this thread!

Thanks!
Todd Kirby

Hey Todd,
This is an excellent idea!...a perfect example of Opeler teamwork.
I'm in for a pair (front and rear) of Manta GT/E style gaskets,
also an Ascona voyage rear window gasket - (01500007a - €79.00)
and an Ascona saloon rear window gasket- (01500007 - €89.00)

Nice One!

Does anyone know if Dr. Manta has the rear bumper guards for a '73 Manta? These are the ones that are solid black rubber; not the rubber on chrome of the '71/72 models, and not the big bumper era. If they are available, I would like a pair of them.

Bumper Guards

Jeff,

He has the fronts, but I did not see any all rubber rear guards. He has the chrome pieces. You might check German eBay.

Dave

P.S. Did you run across the trunk lock too?

Thanks,

Dave

Gary,
We should not be subject to the VAT since the items are going out of the EU. I will try to confirm with Wolfgang - if I find out anything I'll post it here.

It is illegal for EU businesses to charge VAT (sales tax) for shipments directly sold to outside the EU.
(listed price) / 1.19 * (exchange rate) = (our cost). Plus shipping of course.
One thing we need to watch is we will have to pay a small customs fee for orders this size.

Dieter, should we consider cutting it off here, or perhaps placing multiple orders? I have to say, I had no idea it would generate this much interest!

Manta Windshield Gasket

Todd,
Sorry I did not respond sooner, but I do need one windshield gasket w/ channel (Item no. 01500005) for the 74 Opel Manta I recently bought to restore. If it is not too late, please include this gasket in your large order. I need more items, but I'll have to wait. My current windshield is shattered and it must be replaced; along with the gasket, of course. Thanks for your time in doing all of this.

Thanks Everyone! This received WAYYY more interest than I would have ever imagined. I've closed the thread for now as a means to cut off the order - I will work on putting a summary together of our order (as time allows), and then I'll re-open the thread and post it here for review. In the meantime, I received the following comment from Wolfgang at Dr-Manta:

"Dear Todd,
the only way we can delete the VAT, will be that you will guarantee the
correct import of the items into the USA. Will say, we will need the proper import documentation from
your end in paper form. if you can or will
not provide these papers, we will invoice
the 19% VAT."

If anyone is familiar with the proper forms and process, please contact me offline (private message) on how to proceed. I suspect with the size of this order (as Dieter indicated previously) we will need to pay customs fees.

Cheers,
Todd Kirby

I tried posting this last night, but the site wouldn't let me include an attachment for some reason.

Here is my "interpretation" of our order. Please make note of the following:

1). Please make sure I have properly represented your portion of the order (see purchasers line in the file). Don't worry about the adjusted price line yet, just make sure I have you down for the right item(s) and quantity. Quantity for a given item is assumed to be one per purchaser except where noted in parentheses.

2). The price for the chrome trim is 6 Euros per meter - I have no idea how many meters are needed for the front and rear windshields, but we will need to clarify this in the order. Mitch Manta mentioned 4 meters - that sounds about right to me (per windshield).

3). Please do not ask to add additional item numbers at this time. I only want to clarify the order as it currently stands so that we can get things underway as soon as possible.

I appreciate everyone's patience and participation! I realize it's slow, but rather than rush things, I want to make sure we're thorough throughout the whole process so that things go as smoothly as possible. Please feel free to post any questions you may have.

We need some input on how to proceed with getting the paperwork in place to avoid the 19% VAT.

Final Reminder - once we have calculated everyone's cost for the order, remember that this will not include the final shipping costs to get the items to your door. Once we get the items inside the US, we will then need to coordinate domestic shipping - a LOT easier!

Cheers,
Todd
