Unanswered: Phase I of wagon interior upgrade

Hello listers,
Just got phase I of the wagon's interior done, (carpet, door panels)
now saving up for recovering the recaro's and the back side panels.
Hopefully those can be done in the next month or two. As you can
see I took the back seat out and boxed the area in. (Sure to hear
from the purists on that one.) Oh well, don't have any intention of
selling it so might as well make it as I want it to be. Plan has the
seats red with a black insert. (Red is good!)
Don.

Very nice! As for the "purist", I have a "normal" Sportwagon, and another that I will use my ideas on, one is to do away with the back seat, so, great idea. What's the story on your console?

Hello Gene,
Hey, my fiberglass delaminated from the tire cover. I'm thinkin' I might
need your's after all. What kind of value do we have attached to that?
I've had that console so long I can't remember where I got it, but I
did have to cut it down when I went to the five speed. It ran all the
way down the driveshaft tunnel with a hole where the normal 4-spd
shifter would have been located. Could have possibly been made for
the GT. You'll note where I cut into the dash where the radio once
resided to make it fit. Easy dash to work on, two canon plugs in
the back, unplug 'em, pull it out. Stereo is now found in the glove
box, there was nowhere else to put it. Wagon's so noisy now it's
silly to even think about listening to tunes unless it's sittin' still.
Maybe amplification is in order...PM me about the tire cover.
Thanks,
Don.

Did you modify the 5-spd shifter, or just make a new opening for it? Here's my take on how I did my console with 5-spd. I didn't modify the shifter, but, made a new opening, but, had a friend modify a 74-75 console to work with the new location, but, looks stock. I love the position of the shifter, almost like being in a GT

Morning Gene,
yeah, moved the opening back. Once again can't remember
where I got the piece to do so, but remember having to cut
some on the tunnel and rivet in the new piece which put the
opening back about 5 inches or so. It does make the stick fall
more readily at hand.
