Question Unanswered: Ideas for Non-Stock Seat Alterations?

So I am currently fixing up my GT just to get it going, but I will eventually move on to the interior. I am going to have the seats rebuilt, but I first want to see if there is anything that would be cool to add to the seats to make them either cooler or more comfortable.

I saw this ( EL Wire ) and thought that it would be pretty cool to use it as the piping on the seats. I think that the accent would be an interesting effect and a very unique piece of styling.

Just think, the lighted seats could pulsate with the music that is playing. What a way to impress a hot date!!!

So here we go. What have you done or have wanted to do to the seats (or door panels) of your Opel that would have a stellar effect and be an awesome addition to a GT?

I am trying to keep my GT close to stock. What I mean by that is that anything that improves the performance of the car in the spirit of the original car I am willing to do, but I don't really want to mess the styling all that much.

ThIs is why I like this piping idea. The wires in the piping will look close to stock until they are turned on, then all who are vain will be incredibly impressed!

You could install an aftermarket heater for your seats. I've decided against doing this because I'm already spending way too much to have all my seats rebuilt then redone in vinyl and tweed. I don't have a GT but I think this applies to your post.

Without putting different seats in, your options are limited.

That piping would be pretty cool, and I see it comes in a 'stitchable' form. I would look into the length of time those lights would last.. as if they are stitched to your seat, they are pretty much there for good.

I haven't heard too much about installing massagers or heating elements, but I am sure there is someway you could do it. Look around for other vehicles that come equipped with either of the two, and compare sizes of the seats to see if they'd work.

Speakers in the head rest. Once again, I am not sure if this would work on a GT seat, but I know there are a couple of different seats you can install with little fabrication that come with them.

That's all I can really think of now.. but if I come up with anything else, I will share my ideas.

You can have your upholsterer add a little extra in the lumbar area for support. It's almost unnoticeable by the casual observer but the person using the seat will appreciate it.
