Answered: Sportwagon gauge cluster location

Twenty years ago I removed the three gauge panel from my Sportwagon before scraping it (rust). Now I have an Ascona which I assumed has the same interior set-up as the Sportwagon. Where does the panel go? Putting under the center dash panel seems to be too far out of sight. I'm considering mounting it directly to the console in front of the shifter but turning it upside down to improve the angle of sight (after turning the gauges 180 degrees in the panel). Help me Opel folks.

They originally fit directly under the slot for the radio. The contours of the 3-gauge panel fit the dash here pretty well. However, I agree that they're a bit low and out of the way and not the easiest thing to see.
