Luckily the upholstery in my '73 was actually in good condition. I didn't care for the typical 1970's brown, so I used Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint to change it all to a more contemporary beige. I then used a similar but contrasting Duplicolor paint for the seat inserts. They're showing no signs of wear after a summer of driving, although I wouldn't be surprised if I have to touch them up a little at some point in the future.
Go to http://www.opelgt.com/forums/introdu...tml#post190113 if you'd care to see them.

OK, you asked for it...
I modified my stock GT seats to accommodate a 4 point harness. I tried some Sparco R100's, but they didn't look 'right', So this is what I did: First pic - stripped off the vinyl and removable foam, and welded a steel plate (with a milled hole in it) to the vertical tubes. Second pic - Made some aluminum 2 piece inserts to fit in the hole in the plate, and live between the front and rear of the seat. Third pic - This was the scary part, where I actually had to slice open the vinyl. Up to this point, I could have just left the seat alone, and no-one could tell there was a steel plate inside. Fourth pic - the finished product, with the harness installed. I tried to include a blitz logo, but it became hard to see after I powdercoated the aluminum inserts. I made the inserts the shape they are to try and follow the Opel upholstery and make it look intentional, not like I just hacked a hole in the seat. HTH, jtb |

Thanks!
I don't know about a kit, they took quite a long time to make... but if anyone wants more information, they can PM me. You can't see the logo in the pictures, but you can in person if you look closely. Here's a pic of the front before powdercoating where you can see the logo. Cheers, jtb |

Correct, all the US GT seats were the same for all years (except for the velcro/zipper difference at the seat backs). Those seats are not GT seats unless they've been torn down and re-stuffed, then sewn in a different pattern.

So I wonder if swapping one set of early 70's seats for another really gets you anything (other than a bit more lumbar support).
Same worn foam etc.

Yup. Must be a popular swap. My car has 'em and there's a pair of GTs on Ebay at the moment and both cars have them. Mine look to be about a 260Z:
