Unanswered: Anyone have GT floor mats they love?

Greetings!

I have been looking into floor mats for my 72 GT. I have decided to make my own.

I have access to this rubber-like material I use for my vintage jetski renovations. It comes in many cuts and colors.

The stuff is practically indestructible. It's called HYDRO-TURF. Here's a link:

Hydro-Turf-Performance Traction Products Click on "by the sheet"

I am looking for someone who has mats that fit great, so I can have them trace the outlines for me.

If this works out, I'll post a thread with all the info so everyone can make them.

Or you can get a set from me.

Do you have access to a large printer? I'll make a PDF of the ones that come in the OGTS carpet kit if that would help.

My printer has the capability of printing multi-page stuff.

A pdf should be fine.

Thanks!

Just get one of the Models!!

Forget about the mats. Nobody will notice them if you get one of their models.

Just to give you an idea, here's some pictures.

I have already done an insert for the e-brake surround, and the shifter console (I left out the ash tray).

I also did a little piece to cover up the radio hole (I run an MP3 to an amp in back)

I have a "door" for the glovebox done too.

TCAV came up with the great idea of also doing the back deck.

If you go to the site, you can see all the colors and cuts they have. You can even request sample pieces (they are only about an inch square, but it gives you an idea on the material).

So here is the driver side carpet. The large horizontal line for the driver and passenger templates are 42 cm and 40 cm respectively, so assure that your printing has not scaled it improperly.

Also, I have included some 'locating features' just in case you print this as a mosaic and find yourself with a page that has no features . . .

File Type: pdf Driver Side Carpet (alignment).pdf (7.0 KB, 18 views)
File Type: pdf Passenger Side Carpet (aligment).pdf (5.9 KB, 8 views)

Thanks! That was fast work!

And you are spot on about the reference measurements and the locating features.

One question though:

I had carpet pieces like that in my car when I got it. The carpet "bunched" right where the gas pedal was - where it went from being flat to going up the front.

I had to cut a wedge out and sew the cut together.

Does your carpet do that?

I actually wouldn't know because I haven't installed it yet (also why making the diagram was so easy)

However, could it be that you had an extra amount of padding in that location? That could make the entire footwell smaller and cause the bunching.

Because this was so easy, I think that I may just go ahead and diagram up the rest of the carpet patterns. Why not? I have the complete collection of James Bond movies to go through!
