Unanswered: Headlights won't budge
I just got my gt back from the mechanic, anfter having the automatic transmission rebuilt. I was driving at night and I went to push the lever to flip the lights up and on, but the lever in the car wont budge, i tryed pushing with all the strenght i have and it wont move at all. Could somthing have have happened when they put the tranny back in, or does anyone know what is causing this problem?
Thanks Sterling |

Jammed!
If the headlights were working before the trans fix it sounds very much like the lever mechanism under the trans tunnel was bent or jammed when they put the trans back in. It sticks down under the car above and to one side of the trans. Or maybe the cable has been kinked or jammed.
Look around under there ... and ask the trans shop to put it up on their hoist - AND fix it if it was their error! Last edited by GTJIM; 09-10-2008 at 03:51 AM.. |

Yes the headlamp cable attaches to the lever on the inside of the car, underneath the car & next to the transmission. I'm quite aware of this, as my headlight cable is detached and I can't reach it to fix it, unless I drop the transmission.
Oh yeah... my auto transmission just died on me today and I had to have the car towed home.

I'm not sure about the auto tranny, but on Willit? with the T-5 bellhousing, you can pull back the carpet on the tunnel, remove the handle on the headlight lever, disconnect the bolts on the side of the tunnel and the lever may drop down far enuff to hook up the ball socket on the cable and inert the locking clip. Not a real easy task, but it can be done.
