You probably need to lubricate the locking mechanism on the rotater assembly. It's not easy to get to, do a search on this site, there are instruction on how to remove, repair and re-install the assembly. Just for your info and others, the locking and unlocking mechanisms use the rotating mass to engage a pair of overcenter hooks to hold the assembly in place. The last two teeth on the gear sector have been modified to allow the mass to rotate once full travel of the sector has been made, and also to allow the sector to begin rotation before the mass is engaged. You have to see it to visualize. Real clever engineering.

I think the most common cause for headlights not to lock in position is that one or more of the three little M5 bolts that hold the bucket to the rotator get broken. Look around this forum for several threads that discuss this issue. Especially look at the thread:

headlight not shutting

Check if the bolts to the mechanism are like Kwilford said broke, or may just be loose on that side....when loose they absorb the shock of closing and that light bounces back. To access the bolts, you have to remove the inner panel inside the front fenderwell, it has 4 screws that hold it on, then use a 10mm "I Believe" to tighten the bolts

I believe the "other Keith" (aka "opelspyder", Lundholm that is) is describing the M8 bolts (10 mm head) that attach the rotator mechanism to the body. It is possible that they are loose. If so, there are four bolts that attach each rotator. The two lower ones are accessed through the removable plate in the fender well; the other two are higher up, and are reached through the engine compartment. If "the right side" means the passenger side, they are just below the cross member. The driver side upper bolts are behind and beside the master cylinder (nasty!).

But I am referring to the smaller bolts (M5 with 7 mm heads) INSIDE the headlight buckets, which attach the back of the bucket to the rotator inner gear.

Hey Keith, now that you have sold the "Spyder" GT, do you have to change your user ID
