Unanswered: Headlight cable
1. I got a headlight cable to replace the one that was never in the car; I can figure out where to hook it up under the hood, but am a little confused down under the car and what path does the cable follow to the lever inside the car. 2. Also the rubber/plastic covering of the cable is brittle, what is the best technique to recover it? |

it routes through by the servo then goes down by the exhaust and to the lever
dont know how you would recover the supelness of the cover as its a 30 odd year old bit you might be able to cover it with heat shrink sheath to keep it good

servo is that big drum at the front next to the rad with a long rod going in the back to work it and the brake master cylinder on the front
and yes it does goe down past the exhaust theres 2 or 3 tabs to fix it to the side on the body

the headlight cable routs from the actuator arm in the front of the GT, through a hole in the radiator support, down the drivers side frame rail and inner fender down to the side of the transmission tunnell, and connects to the headlight lever in the transmission tunnell.

Thank you for the info tommorow I shall attempt to hook the cable up to the lever and actuator arm.
Do you think the prior owner removed the old cable because it broke, the headlights seem to turn ok without it.

sometimes when the car sets for long times, the cable gets rusty and stuck. probably removed it to lube it up and lost it. they're hefty cables and shouldnt break easily at all.
