Question Unanswered: Head light buckets

Quick question: is there a right and left bucket? or are they interchangeable?
Thanks.

Cool

Good question. I assumed that they were interchangable, but maybe I just got lucky when I restored my GT!!

there is a left and right specific. the headlight covers are stamped for a left and right, and they will only fit on their respective side....thats the only way i've been able to tell which one goes on what side, the flat part of the bucket has a different countour, mirrior imaged from each other to fit curves of the car.

L & R

There is definately a left and right hand headlight bucket - just ask the man who has a perfectly restored "spare" on his shelf ........ no need to ask!

The visial clue is the positon of the cover plate hold down screw that is positioned in the big groove in front of the headlight. It is slightly offset from centre and is best seen on the cover itself. Just behind this hole the covers are marked "L" & "R" - a quick test fit will show the offset of the screw hole. Try the "L" cover on the righthand bucket and see for yourself the noticable difference ....

See the offset hole in the forward edge of the covers in this pic, blatantly copied from EBay:
