Unanswered: LT05 Side skirts

Does anyone have a close up of these side skirts installed, I am wondering if I need to begin the top of the flare edge along the door jamb edge, Or it needs to go lower? Also these have quite a step, what have you all done to blend them in nicely. Looks like I will have to do some cutting to make them right. I just do not think it will be asy to blen with that step up in them.

I installed a set once before but they are a real pain to work with.

What I did was to level the car in such a way my rocker was leveled and used that edge as a guide. You will have to do substantial trimming since the panels are not really made with any QC. If you line up the top, the side will be out. If you line up the sides, the bottom will not land on the body so trim and fit several times until they all line up.

Lenks site

I went to Lenk's site and the pictures are a little better. I think the step that is on the pieces I will grind off, if not it will not fit flush at the door, it would stick out 1/2 inch step from the door jamb, and then flare out. I don't want that. Also By grinding that-I will be loosing valuable mounting flange-but I may bond a new one on anyways

That is what we ended up doing, cutting it down to bare essentials and creating an internal mounting flange that we could bond to.

These parts are not too well designed or should I say mass produced.

The kit

I posted some pics on my restoration thread, and looked at them hard today. I decided to try to lay them up on the opposite side of what they are labeled for, and I actually like them better. I would have to blend them into the door, but I think the overall would be better. Not sure how I feel about the 1/2 lip sticking out under the door, still may remove that, but what do you all think?

I'll post some close up pics tomorrow. Mine are fully blended.

Here is a pic of my GT with the LT05 installed and blended.
I 'did not' modify the fiberglass, just blended it in.
The upper fiberglass edge under the door opening is also blended.

Hmmm

Okay the later pictures actually look a little different, meaning a design change since, the targa car looks Identical, But it seems like most are cutting off the ledge, and putting it a little lower than the door seem. I'm not affraid to tackle this, just want to survey all my options before hacking away
Thanks for the pictures
