Unanswered: Access to undercarriage?
I don't have a lift, and could jack and block it up, but the idea of laying on my back on a creeper with an angle grinder doesn't exactly appeal to me. Plus I could do a MUCH better job if I had full access! ![]() I'm not thinking of tipping it up to a full 90 degrees (and resting on the body), but something more like 60deg, with it still in resting on the tires on one side. If you've ever done this or seen it done hit me back with some feedback, with how you did it (attachment points etc) I can round up enough strong friends to lift it up or would use a come-along/chains etc., to get it up and secure it safely attached to the garage joists. I've used this method to lift up a hot-tub in my yard for work underneath, but of course the car is much heavier, and require a bit more planning and care. Am I nuts? (wait don't answer that)

LOL, go ahead, if the body is stripped down,, then 4 people can pick it up. There have been members that have rolled theirs up on old tires (no rims, just tires), old mattress', one even hung his GT body' from the floor rafters in his basement with bungee cords. Some have built simple holders out of wood and used the jack points as pivot points and put casters on the main box to rolll the whole thing around. Some have had access to welding and steel and fab'ed their own body stands from engine stands, or whatever. Just make sure it is SECURE and safte before doing any work.

Safety First! If you follow that, if anything goes wrong it will be Dieter's fault.

Yes a GT will hang very nicely from eyehooks screwed into the rafters. You just start hooking them up, next thing you know the car starts levitating. Then a couple ratchet straps will keep it steady.
The trick: Use a lot of bungees.
