Unanswered: What the????????

I spent 2 hours pulling the front suspension out of the GT this morning. When I got the car, I knew the front end needed to be re-done and was going to do it any way with all poly stuff. I figure the stock bushings were toast because when I would brake hard, the front end felt like it would flex and move. I saw why this morning. One of the bolts that holds the suspension crossmember in was backed off about a half an inch. Wow, I am glad I decided to get to work on it. My question is this. I thought I remembered from a previous car that there was a piece of flat rubber between the crossmember and the frame where they bolt together. In this case, there is a threaded metal plate. Can anyone tell me what is supposed to be there, I don't want to put this thing back together wrong. Thanks in advance!

Phenolic or Micarta blocks about 1/8" thick are what I believed were used.

could it have been for a front sway bar? i know some insert a plate in that spot. that may be why the bolt was backed off from previous installation/removal.

I remembered there was a discussion on this a while back. I used the search button and found this link to a post that shows the spacers in the second pic.. Earlier in the post, I found I had measured the ones that came on Willit? because at that time I still had the front suspension out of the car. HTH

Guys, the answer is much simpler then everyone thinks!
Over here in Europe the cars came standard with a front sway bar that is attached with a brace that is partial between the cross member and the frame, the export cars didn’t have the sway bar so to fill up the space they used this synthetic plates, some are made of metal that depends on year and as long as supplies/stocks last.

After rereading the original post.
I must confess my lack of understanding of the English language.
Please forgive my Stupid mistake ie not the engine crossmember but the front suspension
