Unanswered: Front Spring is in!
I pulled the stock spring and lower a-arms off yesterday. I had rebuilt the suspension about 10 years ago so everything came apart pretty easy. I jacked the car up and put 14" jack stands under the front jack tubes. The stock spring has a huge arc (12") and barely cleared! The new OGTS spring has 6-3/8 arc. Cleaned everything, new ball joint boots, bolts & nylock nuts. The spring eyes did need to be ground a little to clear the ball joints. I put the spring eye poly bushings in with grease and assembled the A-arms to the spring, leaving the bolts loose! Bolted the spring/a-arm assembly on one side, again leaving everything loose! Jacked the other side up close, put the ball joint nut on a few turns, then the shock bolt in. I felt safer with the bolts in. With everything loose the last 2 bolts in the control arm pivot went in with a little prying and using a pin to line up the holes. Not too bad! Tightened everthing and let it down. Looks good and handles great! Bumper height is about 16". Thanks again! Lyle |
