I haven't read the entire article but maybe it might help you:
http://www.opelclub.com/SteeringColumnApr2006.pdf There's a part in it which handles the ignition switch. Good luck

Option
You can also unbolt the steering column
(Remove the 4 bolts, including 2 "shear head" types, which may require drilling for an exractor bit, or to create a slot that a screwdriver can turn in AND remove the turn signal stalk AND remove the ground wire AND remove the 2 plastic wire plugs (white and black) from the side of the fusebox). That allows you to turn the entire steering column, even when it is locked. It's not easy, but it can be done so that you can get a car to a trailer. |

Thanks everyone for all the help. I did as suggested and dropped the column. Now I can steer the wheels straight and roll it off the trailer. This is most likely going to be a parts donor, so I may not worry about it any further for a while. Thanks again for all the help. By the way, this 70 is a real rust bucket and has a blown engine, so my search continues for a decent 70 GT project.
