Question Unanswered: KONI Shock absorber 80-1997 opel GT

Hi everybody
My Opel GT 1900 needed new shock absorber for the rear axle, and I found these "KONI 80-1997 Sport" in a local shop.

Looking at www.koni.com , it should be the right size for Opel GT rear axle, but it seems that they are too long, and minimum lenght is a lot longer than the old Monroe shocks , which looks very old.

( in normal position the shocks are only 5 cm longer , than the minimum lenght they can be )

Rear springs are the series, and the hight of car is correct .

Anybody who knows if this will give problems ?

The longer shock might bottom out before the suspension bottoms. If that happens the shock might be damaged. However, I don't know for sure if these will bottom out. To find out, you can: Place the car on jack stands, remove the rear coil springs and install the koni shocks. Then using a floor jack move the axle thru the full range of travel. If the shocks bottom out before the axle rests on the rubber bump stops then you have a problem

Since it is a Koni, you can send them to any authorized Koni repair center and have them modified, if you find the extra length a problem. In the US such places are Koni of North America, True Choice and several others. You should be able to find a repair center from their web site.

Good Luck
