Unanswered: Strange Wheels for the GT?

Hi guys.

These wheels came off of my '73 GT and have no idea where they came from or who made them. I would like to sell them, but have no idea what they are worth. Can anyone enlighten me?

They look like American Racing 'Vectors' to me.

Worth? If someone wants them bad enough, they'll offer it! Probably $50-$75 each, but that's just a guess.

Western made a set like that at one time, if they are a direct bolt on to 4X100mm the wheels should be worth anywhere from $100 to $150 minus the tires if they are in good shape. They made that wheel in a 6X13 and a 7X13, the 7X13's hang outside the wheel wells a little in the rear, not bad though.

so not worth too much huh? They are 6 x 13's. I was ultimately curious when they made these and if they were ever an option for Opels.

Thanks for the replies!!

So $100-$150 a wheel or for all 4?

Yes, Vectors. I believe they were American Racing. I had a set on one of my previous GT's. They give the GT a very nice look. If I needed a set of rims, they would be my first choice. They were not an Opel option. However, you could get them at most wheel and tire stores. If yours are in good condition you might be able to get $150 - $200 for the set on EBay. You might want to list them in the classifieds on this site if you're in a selling mood. Jerry

PS, I need one 13 x 5.5 Keystone Rogue for a Vega (4-4.25 bolt pattern).

Those wheels look exactly like the American Racing Vector's that I had on my first GT, back in the late 70s. I always liked the look of those wheels.

Vegas are 4x4" bolt pattern, like MG Midgets and most 4-lug trailers.

American Racing Vector

The wheels are Am. Racing Eq. and were called Vectors. This wheel was original to the General Lee on the Dukes of Hazard. They really looked different when painted black in between the so called spokes or vectors. My 1956 Chevy had a set of them with the wider ones on the rear. This car fortunately sold just before Hurricane Katrina. I had hoped to spend the money on my Opel GT project, however the proceeds went to repairing my house. These wheels can be made to look really nice with "Eagle One" acid spray. Just be sure and get the kind for old, open pore aluminum. They were extremely rare until recently and American Racing is now making them again. I ran them on my 56 Chevy for twenty years. Boy I sure enjoyed that car.

metalvolks PM sent.

American Racing: Official Manufacturer Website- custom, chrome, polished and painted wheels

Sadly it looks like they are only making them with a 5 lug design.

Ya, too bad. I found that out at a local tire store a few weeks ago. Although, finding a used set on Ebay in 13's with the 4X100 bolt pattern is not impossible.

PS Gumby, cool little signature thingy. It's like xray vission.

I got it from some IT people.

I'll have to keep an eye out for them on eBay. I can't install my new brakes until I get wheels that will fit with them.

Sparky,
Yah, the pics were taken in about 1978. The repairs in the back are from a girlfriend's dad who wasn't watching where he was going when he backed up his motorhome. Luckily, it was only the rear end. Any faster, and he may have just backed over top of the whole thing.
