Unanswered: Wide White Walls
My plan is to power sand the tire smooth, clean with solvent, tape and apply thinned white Plasti Coat (that stuff you dip tool handles in) and let them cure. Where am I going wrong (or right)? |

Upgrading to 13" wheels is one obvious answer, then you can just buy wide white walls in the correct size. Another option
YouTube - Make your own Wide White Wall tires

Every extra penny (minus the $25 bucks for plasti coat & thinner) is going into the interior and body for the time being. I do have dreams of 13" chrome reverse rims but that's on down the road a ways.
The tires are black wall with a raised ring. Do you think there's white rubber underneath? Grinding off a thin layer of rubber would certainly be cheaper and easier. |

Or I know it out there a bit but go to Coker Tire's websiter all they do is sell vintage tires, thats where I get all my tires for restoration purposes on customers cars.

White Lettering
Has anyone found a good way to fill in the letters on a black tire in white? I have tried the "crayon" and the "paint pen" methods and both are awful. Buying new tires isn't an option as my current set have less than 4K miles on them. This is something I'm thinking of doing but just can't live with the results so far. I need another method.
Thanks, Matt
