Stock GT and Manta Wheels

Alright now i THINK what i want is the '73 wheels but im not sure, is there someplace i can see all stock wheels for the GT?

Try looking through some of the member photos, there are thousands of pictures and you'll find stock and custom wheels!!

Yes, but the offsets are different. The Manta offset is approx. 37 mm. The GT wheel is marked GT and is quite a bit less something like 25 mm IIRC.

The stock Opel GT wheels are ET 25 mm

the '73s are pretty cool, i actually have one lol and only ONE although im not sure what the condition of it is so id probably just get 4 good ones if i could find some.

I also have a 73. I also have just one 73 wheel. It's my spare that came with it when I bought it. I have the 72 wheels on mine. I like the look. It's unique.

If you look in my "Photos", I took pictures as I went thru the steps to sandblast and repaint the rims for my 1975 Manta. It's a time consuming effort to get the black and silver sprayed on and looking decent. You can easily find some rusty rims around and start with a good sandblasting. After that it's just time and detail.

Have a question. You say these are interchangeable but the offsets are different. What exactly will this do? I just purchased a set of 71 Manta wheels, but they are to go on a GT. What's going to happen here?

You will make the track width narrower. Not desireable for handling...

By roughly 1/2" each side. They should clear but as Rally Bob said, "Not desirable for handling...".

Check with GreenOpelGT since you're in Ohio, maybe you can work a deal with Tom for the correct wheels.

What I have now are 206 60 13 I think, with slotted mags. PO had these on. I prefer stock. Just figured they would be the same and would fit the GT.

My GT had '75 wheels on it when I bought it. I didn't know any better for a long time either.

Where are they marked GT? I've never noticed it before.

On some wheels, the "GT" is stampd on the back, so some cleaning may be in order. I have some GT wheels stamped this way, I also have some that are stamped on the front.

I agree with BQS4. I have seen markings on either the front or back for GT wheels.

When BQS4 was sourcing some wheels for a friend we discovered this, or at least I did, Gene may have already known.

I noticed the markings on the front of the wheels on Ricks original GT and when I picked up the "Stinger", they had markings on the back of the wheels. That is how I discovered the difference.

These wheels are the 71-72 stock wheels with all the holes around them. Dennis at OGTS tells me they are the same as the GT, although they did come from a Manta. They measure 13" x 5", if you measure at the lip of the wheel. Are these actually different than the GT wheels of those years?

The wheels you describe may have "come off" a Manta, but they may be GT wheels. The pre-'75 Manta wheels (and I am sure that the Manta/Ascona crew will correct me if I am wrong), are all the "Rostyle" four spoke wheels, such as the one on the left. The one on the right (with the segmented slot between the spokes) are from a '75 Manta/Ascona, and are 13J-5 1/2, versus the earlier 13J-5. IIRC, they are all ET37

In the picture the wheel on the left, if a Manta wheel would be from '73 or '74 and be marked ET37 as Keith said. If GT is stamped, could be front or back of spoke, then it would be from a '73 GT as that was the only year the GT's used the wheel with the small center cap.
