Unanswered: What size tire are you using?

My son and I are discussing tire sizes. He wants to upgrade to 14 inch tires and I am still fond of the ride I got from P205/60R13.

Include pictures and measurements if you have them.

Personally, I like 205/60R13 on 5.5" rims (stock '75) or 185/70R13 on 5" rims (pre-'75). If you happen to have an inexpensive set of rims (like from a '80s BMW 3-series) that are 14", I would say go for it, but if you're considering the purchase of a new set of rims, I would go for 15". The reason is that there are limited tire choices for 13", but going to 14" doesn't improve the situation much. When you get to 15", however, there are plenty of tires available for anything you want to do.

I have 14's on my Manta. I just bought a set of Bridgestone RE 960 AS Pole Position 195/60-14, which are very close to the original diameter. These are about the only decent 14 inch tires around now-a-days. At least these are at the top of their category on Tire Rack.

The selection for 13's just plain sucks. 15s would give alot more choices...

It all comes down to what you like and what you want to spend. If you make changes you will need to consider offset, clearance, and speedometer calibration. If you want wider tires you will have to go with wider rims. I like the stock oval slotted ralleye wheels with 205/60/13's. They clean up just fine.

You can find custom rims that can work, but they are harder to find. If anyone knows where I can find one of these Keystone 13 inch Rogue, please let me know.

This is of course very personal.

If I had to choose a new set of rims , I would probably go for a set of BBS 15"
7x15 ET+20 (tire 205/50) or even 8x15 ET +12 ( tire 205/50)

But I like my western wheels 13" to much to change.
In front they are 5.5x13 ( dont know the et) with 205/50
In the back they are 7x13 ET-25 also with 205/50.but its that negative et , that I like so much.
The GT becomes a bit agressive wide looking . I even had to widen the GT in the back very discretely 2cm each side, so now the tires are even with the wings, and that is the look I want.

So you dont have to go for bigger tires than 205 or even bigger wheels. Its all about the et of the wheel in my humble opinion. I never really liked the original look of the GT with the wheels deep in the wings, but again this is very personal of course.
