Unanswered: gaskets ?
heres the deal i have a 1968 engine i found out but i ordered a 1973 gasket kit way before i found this out and when putting the engine back together i was like im missing where this gaskets go and i was like hmm and i cant figure it out and its been stumping me for the past week or so and has stumped every one in the house all been working on cars our whole life's so i now come to here for help and info. i also dont even have a clue what to call the gasket other than the gasket that looks like a bunny head. so i took a picture and im hoping to get my question answered so i can get my poor lil Opel back on the Road again i also hope these images are small enough. keep in mind i have headers, engine is bored 50 over, webber carb, and so on i tell ya you find a lot out by tearing a car down and having to put it back together and find out you have wrong parts lol ![]() but i love the thing to death though hehehe![]() ![]()

I don't have a clue to what they are for. They are in a lot of the kits I've used over the years. If they're important I still have a small stack of them.
Other than curiosity, don't worry about them. Finish your car up.HTH, Harold |

Even though you bought a gasket kit for the proper year/motor of your car, there's always extra gaskets/pieces/parts the may or may not belong to you particular motor, but, the pieces are there. Like Harold says, if you have all the proper ones to do your motor, build it and don't worry about it.

I think the "bunny" one is for the afterstarter and the bottom one is definitely for the muffler bearing!

. . . not a clue on the first one, but definitely doesn't belong anywhere in a CIH engine or drivetrain. The second one may be a throttle to manifold gasket for a '75 FI intake manifold, if it's fairly thin paper.
