Unanswered: Oil Change Stops Engine Oil Leak

I thought I would pass this along as a tip. Over the past couple months I had developed an engine oil leak that was pretty tough to locate. I did the whole clean the engine and park the car over cardboard thing but no luck really. I was considering using a dye. It wasn't a terrible leak but just enough to be irritating and worrisome plus it was causing oil to splash back around the engine mounts and block and under the hood. I had been using Mobil 1 15W50 for its ZDDP content. When changing the oil last week, I decided to mix up the following "coctail":
  • 76oz of Mobil 1 10W30 High Mileage Synthetic Oil
  • 16oz of Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak
  • 4oz of ZDDP Plus Additive

This totals 96oz (3 QTs) which is 0.25 QTs less than the 3.25 recommended for the GT model (I did this expecting the dipstick to show just a little low - you can always add more oil after the fact to get it to the full line). It's been about 10 days now since the oil change and a little over 100 miles and I have no leaks . I thought I was going to have to go through some major gasket swap someplace or worse. So, if you have a small to medium leak you may want to try this. The change in oil weight plus the Lucas stop leak seems to have done the trick. Finally, don't worry about the excessive ZDDP (the whole 4oz bottle treats 4 - 5 QTs of oil plus the Mobil 1 already has quite a bit). According to the ZDDP Plus website, using more than needed simply prolongs the life of the additive between oil changes - it will not hurt the engine.

HTH

Anyone else had good luck with the Stop Leak product? I think I need to try this on mine until I rebuild my spare motor.
