The intake manifold bolts are easy to strip and then they do not tighten . If your bolts are O.K. then you could add grounding star washers ( Radio Shack for 3/8 washers ) to help hold the manifold .
Your cyl. head does not use the locating studs ( 2.2 ) because your intake is modified to fit the 2.2 if I am correct it was machined to fit your Eng. HTH John

Um, obvious question: is the flange on the intake manifold the same thickness as the exhaust manifold, at least at the points that the bolt washers contact? It sounds like your intake flange is thinner.
