Question Answered: Need help identifying cylinder head

I'm in possession of an overhauled Opel cylinder head, casting number 2888112.

This item was found in storage in the garage of a friend, and has been there 15+ years since her ex left. It has a light coating of rust, but the valve heads are shiny and clearly have never seen use since the head was reassembled. I believe it's for a late-1960's Kadett (1967 or 1968?), but don't know the specifics. It was stored with a genuine Opel head gasket set in the original carton, P/N 16 06 183.

My brother owns an automotive machine shop, but wasn't able to find the casting number in his catalogs; he told me he hasn't had any Opel engines come through his shop in 15 years or more. Can anyone on this forum help us to narrow down what it is?

Useful information would be where-used (Opel model years and models), engine displacement, etc. Also useful would be if this assembly has any value to Opel owners/restorers. The homeowner wants to clean out the garage, but perhaps a worthy Opel enthusiast should get a shot at this item, rather than scrapping it.

The parts books I consulted started at '64 thru '67 and the second '68 thru '75. It lists the above part number for the 66-67 Kadett "S" eng. exc. 67 1/2 and 68-70 Kadett 1.1 Eng. A different P/N is listed for the "S" engine head gasket.

Looks to be a 1.1 liter which fits 1.1 and 1.0 from about 1964 to 1971.

I'm sure that you are aware that not all 1.0 and 1.1 engines used the same cylinder head. I've counted at least six different parts numbers for 1.0 and 1.1 heads during that period. Unfortunately, my parts books do not include the casting number listed. Bill

It looks like a 1.0 head from '67 according to the cast numbers in the first photo
