Unanswered: Bypassing Heater

I am planning to put a cold air intake on my DCOE in the coming months. Since I don't drive the car in the winter and haven't used the heater in recent memory, I think I will remove it from the coolant loop so I can eliminate a bunch of hoses under the hood and free up some space for the CAI.

Any opinions on whether it would be preferable to either run a hose directly from the thermostat housing to the water pump, or to simply cap the outlets at these locations?

Tks

Either is fine. We run a pipe plug inside the T-stat housing and water pump housing on race cars to ensure no leaks (I don't like rubber caps).

IMHO, one is a "patch" and the other is a "fix" and the "fix" just happens to be neater in appearance.

Next time I have either the t-stat housing or water pump off I'll install some pipe plugs. For now, I soldered some caps onto some 1/2" copper tube, painted them black and clamped them in some short sections of hose.

Looks fairly neat and sure got rid of a bunch of hose under the hood.

Just buy two plugs from Autozone and you are done.
