What temp thermostat is used?

I have a minor issue with my GT, it doesn't get hot enough! In the summer it was no big deal, but now that fall is here, I don't get much heat. There is no heater valve installed, so I always get hot water in the heater core. There is a thermostat in the housing, but even after running for 30 miles on the freeway, the temp gage barely registers. Do others have this issue? What to do to fix this? One other thought just hit me, I need to make sure I have FLOW thru the heater core. I will also check this.

Anyway, what temp thermostat does everyone use?

I run a 160 degree F. Keeps the engine cool. I don't use much heat as it is put away for the winter. This is probably on the cool side

My 1973 OPEL service manual indicates
Filler Cap type - Pressure 13.2-15.2 PSI.

Thermostat Open at - 189 F.

Of course you might consider the climate in your neck of the woods.

Thanks all, I will try a 190 degree one. I don't drive much in the winter, but we get a ton of very nice sunny days in Michigan, even in the winter. Occasionally getting the GT out is good for the soul, but I hate to wear a coat and gloves for the occasion!
