Unanswered: Idle problems

I'm having a strange problem with my idle I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? This is the 69 I drove to carlise this year. 1.9 hi-comp, petronics, 32/36,water choke. What it's doing is like choke in reverse, start it cold and it idles well at 800-900 as it warms up the idle rises at full running temp its up to 1200-1400. It should do the opposite the choke should raise idle cold then go down as it warms. Not sure what to make of this? Anyone have any idea's?

Vacuum leak

Kent,
Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Try spraying carb cleaner on all the intake gaskets and hoses, when the idle changes you have found the leak.
good luck,
Kevin

So you think as it warms its expanding and starting to leak? But its tight when cold? I guess that makes sense I'll try that first. thanks Kevin

Kent, You might also check the choke on your carburetor. Remove the snorkel on top of the carb and make sure the carbs primary flap is closed when cold and all the way straight up when warm. If the above is not the case, you should check the choke to make sure it is operating correctly. The linkage should be free of obstruction and full range of motion. And, if the car is warm and you have a water choke, the housing should be hot along with the coolant lines. If not you might have some blockage in the lines to the housing. Jerry

Check the spring toward the back that holds the linkage tension. Sometimes age loosens it.
