starting problem help - my progress

well here is what i have done to my car...
As a lot of u guys know my 69 GT was going to be a drag car,the original firewall was cut out and just a single break was left...meaning the whole firewall was cut out and a plain sheet of metal was added.

here in the pics are what i had to do,the other thing is the radiator support i needed.[img]

Ah, that looks like step one of my pedal relocation mod.
So you plan to put it all back to stock?
Shouldn't be too bad of a project.

well now i finally have all my hoses on my car...only problem is i don't know which hoses go where in the retard and advance goes to which hose point (it's a 69 setup (2 diaframs)
any one know which goes where

depends on your setup
the opel head is not the best flowing thing in the world
which would point you into putting more advance into the timing curve

These two threads discuss distributor and emissions hose routings. On three different GTs', I plugged distributor vacuum retard. My opinion was that distributor retard was for emissions specs and I was more concerned about distributer advancing, then retarding (back & forth).

Hooked a battery to the car today and to my amazement everything works (not sure about clock)
put some gas in the carb and it fired up very quickly!
it's nice to see everything working out great and coming together!

just wanted to throw this out there also but the {break} panel switch well when i push it the red light comes on but also my horns go off!
before they didn't go off when i pushed it and i haven't done any re wiring...is this normal???

Well i put a new weber carb on today.
I have fuel going in carb.
Moter startes than dies. pump the gas pedal 3 times it cranks than dies.
i did not put my vacuum lines on yet , i'm going to put them on
tommrow i hope that is my problem.
Please tell me what you think....
This car wants to come alive but i need all of your advise.

Does it die as soon as you let go of the key? If so then you may not have 12 volts going from the run part of the ignition switch to the coil. If it runs momentarily after letting go of the key trying to run but stalling out then you are possibly looking at something you changed from before like a vacuum (sp) leak or something with the carb you just put on. Does this carb have an Idle Cut-off Solenoid? If so, it won't idle without 12volts going to it. It will start, but won't run well or idle at all!

no it cranks than dies .
it acts like it used the gas i pump in than rus out of gas so it dies.
the only place to hook up 12v is to the electric choke.

i do have gas comming out of the vacuum port or the port where the
pvc hose goes.
so it seems gas is going in to intake than going out the pvc tube
in sted of following threw to the pistons.

Float stuck? Adjusted properly? Is it a 32/36?

If the gas is a liguid gasoline and not a vapor Krewzer is right. New Weber? If used then it is possibly as was stated, a stuck float causing the gas to just run into the engine by overflowing inside the carb. Could be dirt between the needle and seat keeping the float from closing off the flow when the bowl is full. Or just stuck in the open position which could just jar loose when you open the top of the carb.

Keep us informed. One step at a time when troubleshooting a problem. Don't do mutiple fixes at once without first checking progress from the first fix.

the weber is a 32/26 DGAV electric choke,the carb was bought brand new and used for little under a year
then i bought it
