a new issue with my car today on the way to a car show it started running like crap. went i got the show pull off dist.cap and point,s were burned so replace points got back to the shop and put in my electronic ignion new plug,s and now the run's for about 15 min and run's crap again then dies. went checking there is no fuel in upper fuel filter but if you take the fuel line off it hiss at you then you fuel again runs fine then does it again replace my fuel pump put in presser reg and presser gage still same issue the tank is replace new fuel lines carb was just rebuild motor was just rebuild just change oil air filter new termostat help if you touch the float carb floods and fill intake with fuel

If I understand what you are trying to say it sounds like vapor lock, keep your fuel lines as far from heat as you can, or insulate them.

If you mean that the line hisses from air being sucked into the line, a vacuum condition would explain the problem. If your fuel vent lines aren't breathing properly as the fuel gets sucked out of the tank, a vacuum condition is created and gets progressively worse which in turn starves the carb of fuel. Try loosening the gas cap when it happens to see if that temporarily corrects the condition. If this is the problem, you are more likely to have to condition with a full tank of gas than a near empty one.

fuel foaming is where the gas boils in the bowl of the carb.
Judging from your location there's a beep load of the corn fuel (alky) in the fuel.
Like the others have said keep the fuel cool.
Or increase the fuel pressure which brings on its own problemes

the fuel line is not hot any where
the car runs great for 15 min
then the fuel filter next to the carb does not have any fuel in it
but you take off the fuel line and there is pressure, the fuel comes running out and the fuel filter fill's up
i have a in line pressure gauge, it stays at 3 pounds.

I'm betting on your fuel tank sock, if you still have one, is plugging the fuel line from the tank.

Yes did you remove the fuel sock inside the tank? and since it sounds like you are getting fuel pressure all the way up to the filter on the fuel line just before the carburetor.... are you sure you have the filter hooked up in the correct direction?

Another possible cause is lack of fuel tank venting, try running the car with the gas cap off, and see if it still stalls out after 15 min., just a thought but I sort of doubt this would be the problem.

I had this problem a long time ago, I added a clear Glass type fuel filter right next to the carb. I found out that if your carb. or the the intake were leaking and had a "vacuum leak" or carb float level off, The fuel filter would not fill up.
I know I had fuel psi at the carb. I think it's a Vacuum leak,I sprayed the manifold and carb with carb spray and listen for RPM changes. Found Carb. mounting gasket leaking. Just my .02 cents.

ok today, motor cold no fuel in the filter,
turn on fuel pump, no fuel
took off fuel line hose clamp before filter and it when hiss and now i have fuel. ran fore same time no fuel

The first thing you should do is check that filter. It sounds to me that it is clogging. Take it off, shake it, then empty it into a clear container and examine it. You obviously have fuel pressure with the "hissing" flow of gas when you disconnect the fuel line before the filter. However, pressure doesn't mean that you have fuel flow. Also, when you relieve the pressure that way some of the clogging in the filter is released and a temporary correction occurs until you hook the lines back up and put pressure and fuel back in the line. A clogged filter is most likely a result of contaminated gas. And, contaminated gas can clog even a new filter quickly. So, check the condition of the gas, check for flow, and if those are good, put a new filter on it. Did you try any of the suggestions in the previous posts?

no fuel sock, good clean gas,fuel line is cool
took out filter and did the same thing,took line off and let it run into other tank good flow for over a hour
fuel line comes out of the tank to a fuel filter, then the pump, then steel line to were the old fuel pump was then rubber to a new steel line that runs to a pressure gauge then to a filter just before carb

where does the fuel presssure go after the carb ?
does the pressure bleed off in the float bowl ?

Ben, most, if not all low pressure fuel pumps, electric or manual, are bypass flow pumps. That is, they bypass the fuel internally, so that when there is no flow requirement they just don't pump the fuel, but maintain the pressure. The carb float needle regulates the fuel flow. As the level in the bowl drops, so does the float and opens the needle valve to allow fuel flow. The needle can be overpressurized and cause fuel to flow when the bowl is still full, so that's the reasoning behind the 3 psi max pressure from the pumps. HTH.

That only leaves on thing to figure out. Why is the fuel not getting to the pump? The pump is working but not getting fuel, so it's pumping air when it doesn't get fuel.
