Question Unanswered: Get rid of smog unit (EGR Device)

I'm wanting to remove the smog unit from my 73 GT, any thing need to be done other than removing everything that looks like part of the unit?

What do you mean by "smog unit?" Other than the charcoal cannister in the nose, the 73 GT's only had an EGR system coming off the intake and going to the headpipe. There was a valve controlled by vacuum.

It's easy to take the egr piece off but you have to make sure you do a good job plugging the hole in the intake manifold to avoid another potential source for a vacuum leak.
