Heat shield

Saw this on eBay - know what it does, never saw one before. Anybody run one?

Yur funny, that's a stock carb heat shield for a 1.9. Pretty much everybody with a down draft knows it well.

A LOT of different opinions on the use or non-use of this little item. My only take on it is that it is ABSOLUTELY necessary if you're using the "joined" (bolted together) stock intake/exhaust manifold combination, even more true in high temperature areas.

Consider this, GM was and, to a great extent, still is run by "bean counters" and they certainly would NOT have put it on the engine unless necessary. Enough said!

the carb gets enough hot air flowing to it, definately leave the heat shield on. even if it doesnt block a whole lot of hot air it will still block some.
