Unanswered: The TOTAL intake option comparison

I haven't come across a large scale comparison of different intake options; and I was wondering if anyone would like to step forward and share their 2 cents on the subject from personal experiences with the options with things such as fuel economy, hp/torque gains and or losses, and maintainance practicality the options from 'worst' to best from what I can tell are for the most commonly discussed options are:

solex carburetor
32/36 weber carburetor
weber 38 carburetor
ssd weber 40 carburetor
ssd weber 45 carburetor
fuel injection
dsd weber 40 carburetors
dsd weber 45 carburetors

and if anyone has tried any other options successfull or not please post your opinion.

Fuel system

I have a aftermarket intake flanged for a Holly two-barrel. It has no heat going to the manifold and the intake runners are 1 inch longer than stock. I have had this manifold about 20 years and have only seen one other. I ran this manifold on my drag car back in the early 80's with a 500 CFM holly carb. and a custom header with 1 3/4 inch tubes, it worked better than the stock manifold with a Holly adaptor and produced about 17 more horsepower and about 22 foot pounds of torque. When my drag car retired I put the manifold on a GT with 2200 cc's, a mild hyd. cam, 1 1/2 inch header and a 350CFM Holly. With a 3:67 gear and overdrive 5 speed it gets 22 MPG city and 28 highway. I like it better because unlike a 32/36 it does not have progressive linkage and is much easier to yune and get parts for.

i think the list u made is about the correct order for the mods that can be done...i know that the 32/36 is just a good carb for a factory engine that doesnt have anything done to the motor, just more reliable then the solex...not sure about the rest cuz i have yet to experience them, but on the gt i have now i will be putting on the dual 40s, as soon as they make there way over the atlantic to me...
