Unanswered: sparks coming from throttle linkage near the carb

I have sparks coming from throttle linkage near the carb. it is between the link to the carb(the fork) and where the post goes into the link holder and return spring.

Also the fork is heating up, possibly by friction. there is no electrical connection on the linkage and only the area I mentioned heats up

You have a broken ground cable to the engine block Danger.. repair NOW !! you will find it on the right side of engine and goes to the frame rail but you can add an extra one any where between the battery to engine block and frame . HTH Guyopel

Any reason though that it only shows up as sparks there by the throttle?
not being snide, just trying to find out why it would manifest itself that way.

Check and clean the ground that came from the factory and adding a second ground is for safety to protect your eletrical sys. if you lose your first ground connection. Low cost protection and easy to do .HTH
