Unanswered: Which is better

Ok everybody chime in on this one

which is better
a mechanical secondary carb
or
a vacuum secondary carb

I have both types Solex of course I am using the vacuum secondary now I wonder if I would get better performance with the mechanical secondary.

Please save the junk it and switch to a weber comments. My opel is all original and I plan to keep it that way.

I had a a mechanical secondary Solex carb many years ago and it did well until I got a Weber. The old mechanic that was teaching me about Opels rejetted it and it ran pretty good. So my vote would be for the mechanical secondary.

Here's a little tid-bit of solex history, the vacuum secondary'd carb was the STANDARD carb for most all Opels till the F.I. came. The only deviation was for the GT ( there was no room behind the carb to allow the vacuum secondary pot) and the Manta/Kadett Rallye as it was for performance, i.e., quicker responce. So, in answer to you question, use the mechanical secondary carb.
