Unanswered: 1.9 & 2.4

Are there any major differences in exhaust port location between the 1.9 and 2.4 cih heads. I have the opportunity to get a sprint type exhaust maniforld from a 2.4 wondering if it will work on a 1.9

1.9 & 2.4

No, the ports will not line up with a 2.4 manifold on a 1.9.

Actually they will line up fine. All the CIH heads except for the racing 2.0litre 'Swedish' heads have the same exhaust bolt pattern, locations, and the sizes are generally almost the same. The intake ports are not in the same locations however.

Yep!

I can confirm that the 2,4L exhaust will bolt directly on to a 1.9L head - it is the other end of the manifold that is different. The outlet ports are pointing further back and at an angle compared to the 1.9L 'Sprint' and standard 1.9L exhaust manifolds - the outlet flange is far bigger too.

On the plus-side ... the 2.4 exhaust manifolds have provision for a Lambda sensor for a closed-loop Fuel Injection system.

This is someone elses pic but shows the differences:

And just to add, there are two "Sprint" manifolds, early and late version, which differ only in the exhaust flange size, late is wider.
