Exclamation Unanswered: 2.4 'slant-flange' Euro Sprint exhaust

I have an amusing problem with my Manta. Fuel in the float bowl boils as the car is running along and it hesitates sharply when I come to a stop and move off from low rpm or have to slow down and then accelerate from below 1500rpm.
I have a fuel return line AND a fuel cooler, but can't think up a scheme to keep the carb from getting too hot
Already have 12mm phenolic spacer under it, can't raise it anymore, airfilter will hit hood
. . .
To begin with, I'd already suggested using a "Sprint" exhaust manifold, as Nasser IS using a stock, "joined intake/exhaust" manifold most common on our carbureted CIH engines . . . but, I forgot one small detail. Malaysia, like our British and "Down-Under" friends, uses right-hand drive cars! His stock, "joined-manifolds" arrangement differs from ours by its use of a "slant-flange" exhaust manifold, necessary to clear the right-hand drive steering column.

That brings us current and the reason for this post. The suggested solution to his "fuel-bowl boiling" problem, changing to a "Sprint" manifold, doesn't change, but does require a different manifold than one we would normally use. To clear the right-hand drive steering column will require a "slant-flange", angled type "Sprint" manifold such as used in the 2.4 Frontera.

So here's my plea, does anyone here, not too likely, or in Europe or "Down-Under", much more likely, have one of these with which they would part to send to our friend, Nasser, in Malaysia? Please let me know in this thread, by PM or e-Mail, so I can organize this for him. Let's help him out, if we can!

Hello,
I really appreciate the worldwide search for the 2.4 manifold but I think shipping that lump of iron to Malaysia will cost more than its weight in gold PLUS the funny looks from customs officials(still remember the guy that had to approve my importing coil springs and little rubber bushings that cost a whopping DM1900 from Opel Berlin in 1990 )
There are a handful of 2.4 Fronteras around here and I'm sure the owners will scrap the cars soon enough OR swop in Jap engines. Then I'll get a complete 2.4, rebuild the lump and fit it to the Manta with the slant flange manifold, of course.
For the time being, I've minimized the boiling fuel-hesitation problem by slightly raising the float level in the DGEV carb to 39mm and running the fuel line from the pump outside the engine bay ahead of the rediator and then back in again
Thanks again for the effort Otto.
You all have a good weekend.

Is that an O2 sensor hole I see in the Frontera manifold?

Will the 2.4 manifold fit the earlier 1.9/2.0 head?

Hmmm....I wonder what they cost in say....Australia or NZ? I have this 'connection' in Florida who ships container loads to here...from Australia.

But then again, it might be easier to just have him find me a complete 2.4.......

Aust & NZ ....

Some hope finding 2.4L Opel Omegas or Fronteras here! They were not imported new with the 2.4L motor. A very few Omega 2.4L are about - I have tracked down 2 that were brought in from Japan as 2nd hand cars. Most of the Omegas here are the 3.0L CIH 6-cyl or later 2.5L Opel V6.
The Fronteras here are later model ones with the Gen II OHC motor - or diesels.

OK, begs the question then, "Anyone closer to Nasser that has one that would be "cheaper" to ship?"

Hello,
GTJIM, do you happen to know the model year of the 2.4 Omegas brought in form Japan? My *scrappie* goes to Japan every 4-6 months but has turned up zilch on the 2.4CIH there but has THREE 3.0CIH+4spd autos
If I could give him more info, like year of sale/registration in Japan, perhaps he may turn up something worthwhile yet. A 2.4CIH+5spd Getrag would be the best thing for my car, though I'd need tougher front springs.......
Have a good week.
Thanks again Otto, your post for the exhaust manifold may yield something more.
