Unanswered: header ID
Found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OPEL-...QQcmdZViewItem (btw, why do they speak of Opels Unlimited in the third person? this IS Opels Unlimited, no?) This sorta looks like mine, but I've only just casually examined it from the top so far. Mine is wrapped too.

I assume this is a stock GT exhaust manifold
http://www.opelgt.com/forums/attachm...002-small-.jpg This picture doesn't look like mine, so I've got something else. I'm just curious as I twiddle with carburetors and such, I don't know much but I know the exhaust side is part of the equation so I should probably try and figure out what is on this thing for exhaust, eh? I do know at least some of my exhaust is Ansa, as far as I can tell at this point, no resonator, that's all I've been able to see so far. Might be time to start crawling around down there.

Jeff;
Your exhaust should/maybe go like this: exhaust manifold/header @ cylinder head head pipe/collector-pipe front muffler (will be located just aft of the passenger seat) pipe over the rear axle rear resonator/ANSA(MONZA, or custom) tail section.

all I know for sure is there is no rear resonator at all, I peeked up there once and saw the tailpipes each heading up and over the axle on their own. I'll see if I can't get up underneath and check stuff out. I'm not sure how I'll do this, the side skirt has limited access to original jack points so I'm on my own.....
very fun to "reconstruct" what's going on with this car. Guy I bought it from is pretty clueless, he didn't do much himself, just drove it. Nice guy though.

Yes, that is a stock exhaust ... and intake manifold - see how the intake is bolted to the exhaust with four cap screws (two of these can be seen by the raised area on the intake, where the carb mounts).
The other type of 'stock' exhaust is the so called "Sprint" manifold (named after the Opel Record 'Sprint' Model which had no connection between the exhaust and intake plus twin 2bbl. down draft carbs) which was subsequently used on the Fuel Injection motors. Looks like this:

I don't have a sprint then, as mine is much more like the ebay one above, the "pacesetter", wonder how that effects my carb choices. BTW it's a 2.0e motor, they tell me it had FI originally.

The Pacesetter headers I used to see were chrome (they offered painted also) and had a 3 bolt header exhaust flange. You could buy the from J.C. Whitney for approx. $75. I believe there was Thunderbird header also, looked to be cheaply made, that had a slip fit like this one.

Yes it is Opels Unlimited, and so far the "reserve" prices he is setting seem to be ridiculously high.
