Unanswered: 2.2 Sprint Exhaust

I need advice from some of the wizards here. I am building a 2.0 with flat top pistons in a 1.9 block. I have a 2.0 head for it and a mild cam. I have a chance to get a 2.2 sprint exhaust manifold and the down pipes. the down pipes are set up for a 2 1/2 in. exhaust pipe. I can get it for $300.00 It that too much? Is the manifold too big for what I am building

down pipes

I stand to be corrected but I believe that 2.2 sprint will not work on the 1.9 or 2.0 head but if it will the other issue is if you are putting the header into a GT the down pipes (unless modified for the GT) will not work. If you are installing it into a Manta or Ascona in all likely-hood the down pipes will work. There is not that much difference in the 1.9/2.0 sprint and for that matter the 2.2/2.4 headers performance wise.

Your Corrected

The exhaust manifolds are all interchangeable. It's the intake manifolds that are completely different. I'm running that type of a set-up on my Manta with a big valve 1.9 head and 2.2 exhaust manifold.Did notice a change in engine performance for the better with this set-up removing my Pacesetter headers.
Thats a good price since mine cost me alot more.

The biggest differance is the collector flange and gasket. They measure out just like a 1.9 sprint manifold tho. You can't buy the mating flange to the collector and just the pipe work will run you around 150, so if that all is included go for it. I paid 125 for the same one and then did the flange and had the collector piping done in 2 inch. They do work well. HTH

Thanks for the info guys. The manifold does come with the flange the collector and the down pipes. The down pipe parts are not welded toghter so I should be able to get them to fit my GT without a lot of trouble. This should be the last big part I buy for this engine, unless I can find a light flywheel. Oh well It don't matter I am into this engine build for about $4500.00 so far. I bought the manifold and parts and they will be here in a week or so

Are these coming out of the lone star state? Have it checked for cracks around the middle, they were kinda prone for that and it drove the price up for good ones. The 2.4 ones were worse but just be careful.

I saw this sell on eBay,
eBay Motors: OPEL HI-PERFORMANCE CIH SPRINT MANIFOLD SET-UP (item 290097749115 end time Mar-30-07 17:25:56 PDT)
and I was intrigued by the down-pipe set up. I like the dual pipe set-up that gives you the flexibility to properly locate them so there is the correct clearance, although the collector looks a bit low-tech. And you will need to be a good welder to do it properly. Here are the photos for posterity.

I thought that the 2.0 flange was of the larger variety along with the 2.2. Is it just that the bolt pattern is different?

Kwilford, Yes that is the one I bought. I agree the collector needs to be replaced. And yes it will take a good welder to put this toghter. Luck for me I know some very good welders.
