Unanswered: Header on a 2.4

Will a header that was removed from a "Stock 1.9l" fit a 2.4l motor without modification? And if any modifying is needed.. what would need to be done?\

Thanks
Jon

I assume you mean the 2.4 head? It'll bolt up. Should clear any intake you have since the 2.4 head has raised intake ports...more clearance usually.

Is it ideal for a 2.4? No, it's likely a restriction in the system if it was designed for a 1.9. But you should have very good torque...

Does this apply to the 2.2 head as well with the 1.9 intake?

For clearance? Should be the same as with the 2.4 head.

I meant the torque issue

Well, you won't have as much torque as a 2.4 due to the smaller displacement. And the intake manifold from the 1.9 will further reduce that. I don't feel that it would change much compared to using a Sprint exhaust manifold, as the 2.2 head has poorer exhaust flow characteristics in the head already.

The 2.4 has far larger and better flowing exhaust ports, and comes equipped with a much larger original exhaust manifold than the other CIH engines.

HTH,
Bob
