Aero Exhaust
Very well made, almost to pretty to put on a street car. They are real proud of these units and the prices are in the nose bleed section, but, if you want to go first class they will put you there. I think there are mufflers and tips that perform just as well and can be has for a lot less money, but I'm frugal

I agree, but according to their site ...
"This combination exhaust package makes your 4 cylinder sports and import car run and sound like a monster instead of a wining baby...Traditional aftermarket Performance Exhaust Systems make 4 cylinder imports sound winy with a high pitch tone. The si254 package deepens the tone of the vehicle's exhaust system while still benefiting from more horsepower and toque gains than any other performance exhaust system on the market." and, "The recombining of the air is what creates a vortex air flow within the muffler that helps to muffle the sound, but also helps to literally pull the exhaust gases through the muffler." It does look like a high quality product (all stainless steel and lifetime warranty). However, their increase gas mileage claims seem to be those from a snake oil salesman. But wait, it has the endorsement of Rusty Wallace (good). And, on the site you can hear the sales pitch from a person with an English accent (lends credibility or just trendy? ). Jerry

I listened to the sound clip of the Honda civic on the aero turbine site and it still sounded pretty winy and high pitched... I would love a nice exhaust on my GT, but stainless steel and a lifetime warranty isn't encouragement enough to sound like some punk teenager's VTEC. Do they have a money back promise if you don't like the tone?! cause that would be an awesome selling point for me...
I think some dual pipes like an Infiniti G35 would look pretty awesome on the opel. I the stock pipe location, ofcouse. |

There really is no way to judge how a specific muffler will affect the tone of your exhaust without actually hearing one.
It would be really cool if muffler manufacturers would publish the frequency response of their mufflers- You could then run an exhaust clip of an Opel with an open exhaust revving through a specified RPM band (i.e no muffler to get the engines raw sound), run that through an FFT to get the frequency and amplitude components through that RPM band and then run that through a linear phase digital filter based on the mufflers frequency response and transform that back to the time domain. The result would be how an Opel would sound using that particular muffler (there other effects that would be difficult to quantify- like the effects of standing waves and backpressure etc). However, muffler manufacturers seem unwilling to share this information; I have asked a few, and the response is that that information is proprietary. I suspect that most manufactures don't even do a thorough analysis of their products frequency response. Flowmaster and MAC do this, but they will not share the data. Bottom line, you have to try it out on your car. There really is no other way to judge how it will make your car sound. -Nathan Acree Albuquerque New Mexico |
