Unanswered: Back pressure

I've mounted sidepipes on the GT. With just the stock motor and Bobs comments about scavaging from another post, I've decided to use just the right side and leave the left for looks. Here is my delima. Due to the length of the pipes, the "y" joint off the header is about one foot back of the 'L' inlet bend for the pipes. That means a custom pipe must be built. This would result in 3 90 degree turns in that one foot space. Would this create too much back pressure on the engine?

Let the education begin!

Any 90 degree bend would increase the back pressure in the flow of any fluid, exhaust, in this instance being a fluid, and 3 bends in such short a space would definately increase the resistance to flow. Using RallyBob's suggestion of using a 2.5" sized tube to go over the axle housing on a standard or modified tail pipe would also work in your mods. The problem would be if the muffler shop could put 3 bends in that short of a distance and still be able to neck down or expand the tube to fit the incoming and outgoing pipes. HTH.
