i'm wondering because i know for regular cars/trucks starting price for everything from the front to the back is usually a couple hundred dollars? this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Opel-...QQcmdZViewItem is on ebay. i checked for shipping they said it would come in a bicycle box, UPS and be $45. the bid is nearly $50 now and I just wanted to get an idea so I didn't pay way too much out of ignorance if i can just go to the local muffler place and get it done. |

The only real pipe you need, unless you're doing a "correct" resto of your GT, is the head pipe, the rest can be fab'ed by a good muffler shop.

You can have a shop work up a 2 in pipe from the headpipe back to a free flow front muffler.... then over the axle and split to a set of resonator tips for the rear. On mine I also installed a flexible section between the headpipe and the muffler to cut down on the vibration that one long section of exhaust system can produce.

You will find a perfect fit muffler at Summit Racing p/n WLK17702, less than $20. the diminsions will allow your exhaust to tuck close to the car for a clean appearance. It also sounds sweet. IMO the best configuration for a GT exhaust system is to only use 14 gauge pipe, front to back. 2" pipe from the manifold to the muffler then 2 1/4" ofer the axle. then split it to (2) 2 1/4" pipes out the back and 2 Hooker rolled edge resonator tips. Beautiful sound on the outside, but nice quiet tone on the inside.
here are some pics of mine. notice how far up into the underbody the muffler sits.
