Again as I responded in your other post please use the search feature in the upper options bar, there are many great threads about mufflers, exhaust systems and anything of the like.

Not Many About ...

The main stumbling block is that there are not many 1.1 litre motors about so very few people have experience of exhaust systems for them.
I have a 1.1 SR motor in a Kadett Rallye and ended up with the OEM original Opel rear muffler - guessing that Opel did a bit of R&D on the right sound!
Generally - keep the pipe size smaller at around 1 5/8" instead of the 2" for the bigger motor and look a mufflers made for smaller UK imports like Minis or Sprites/ MG Midgets. On GTs the standard 1.9 system will be big enough for the 1.1 back past the 1.1 down pipes, I should think?

As for technical books on the 1.1 GT about the only thing available will be thw 1969 Kadett & GT Service Manual - and you will have to find one of them on EBay .... they have a browny redish cover with those words printed in white on the cover.

I think you're right; everything from the muffler back is the same on the 1100 and 1900 GT.

The 1970 Kadett & GT manual with the black cover also contains the 1100 GT information and specs.

I believe I a used 1.1 muffler stock on my shelves for a GT. The inlet and outlet were smaller than the 1.9 one I put on. This is the muffler under the floorboards, not the rear muffler(resonator) at the rear of the GT. It can be yours for $5 + shipping if you are interested.

Let me know.

Jeff

I looked around the internet and all I could find were some lil mufflers for peugeots, and one for a ford ka, but I don't want it to have the "import sound" like my other cars, how about if I take the rear resonator completely off, I'm assuming it will be a lil louder, but does it make it sound like crap? if there's any muffler out there that I missed let me know please, it would be much appreciated.

The Original

This is what came on the Kadett and GT 1.1 engines for exaust, the GT had a 'resonator' the Kadett only had a tail pipe. The O.D. of the exhaust pipe is 1 5/8". As I have both the exhaust pipe, muffler, and the over axle piece, NOS all with the Opel Numbers (paper tags) still on them.

Ok, you have the GT with a 1.1, correct? Take the mufller off leave the resonator in place. This will not give you the Rice burner sound but more of muscle car sound and a lot louder. To test go to a parts store get a short section of flex pipe remove you muffler and install the flex pipe ($5.00) to find out if that is the sound you are after.
